Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
This marks the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent saved four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
