Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
